🥄 Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • ½ cup moong dal (yellow split gram), washed
  • Pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • ¼ cup beetroot, chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, roughly chopped
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 3–3.5 cups water

🔥 Instructions

1. Prepare the Base

Heat ghee in a pan. Add a pinch of hing and sauté for a few seconds. Then add grated ginger and sauté until fragrant.

2. Add Dal & Vegetables

Add the washed moong dal, carrot, beetroot, and tomatoes. Stir for 2–3 minutes to combine.

3. Cook the Soup

Add water, salt, and black pepper.

  • Option 1: Pressure cook for 3–4 whistles until dal is soft.
  • Option 2: Boil in a pot for 15–20 minutes until dal is tender.

4. Blend for Smoothness

Once cooked, blend the soup for a smooth, creamy texture. For a chunky version, you can skip this step.

5. Final Simmer & Serve

Transfer back to the pot, simmer for 2 minutes, adjust seasoning, and serve hot.
