Fried Modak

Ganpati Bappa Morya! Ganesh Chaturthi is today so I  will be making fried modak as everyone knows Modak is Ganesh Ji favorite food is MODAK.It’s very tasty.Some people make It with filling jaggery and dry fruits. Today I am making fried modak, filling with coconut, mawa sugar and nuts. This recipe is very easy.


  • 2cups maida (refined flour)
  • ½ cup dry coconut
  • ¼ cup chopped nut
  • ½ cup mawa
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2-4 green cardamom
  • 4tbsp.ghee
  • 1pinch salt
  • Water for making dough
  • Refined oil for frying modak


Add mawa, sugar, desiccated coconut, chopped nuts, mix well. This mixture is ready for filling.

Take maida salt ghee in another bowl mix it, make it dough with water. Keep the dough to rest for 10-15 minutes.

Take a small portion from the dough and make it flat round, put 1/2 tbsp.filling in the middle that round.

Pinch the edges of the round, bring the edges together, seal and close it. Ready all modak.

Take a heavy bottom pan for frying, first heat the oil on high flame and fry the modak on medium flame.

Take out the modak when slightly brown and put them on kitchen tissue to absorb excess oil.
