Paan Modak with a Sweet Surprise Filling! 🌿🍬

Our Paan Modak combines the essence of paan, a beloved after-meal treat, with the beloved Ganesh Chaturthi favorite. Inside each Modak, a sweet surprise awaits – a filling of sweet-coated fennel, green fennel seeds, and the aromatic Gulkand. This divine blend of flavors will leave you and your guests in awe as you celebrate the arrival of Lord Ganesha with a sweet offering that’s both traditional and refreshingly new.

Ingredients:

For the Outer Layer (Paan Flavor):

  • 1 cup fresh coconut, grated
  • 1 cup paan (betel) leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • A pinch of cardamom powder
  • Ghee (clarified butter) for greasing

-For the Filling:

  • 2 tablespoons sweet-coated fennel seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Red Mukhwas [silver and red balls][Optional]
  • 2 tablespoons green fennel seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Gulkand (rose petal jam)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Outer Layer:

  • In a pan, add the grated coconut, chopped paan leaves, and sweetened condensed milk.
  • Cook on low heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  • Add powdered sugar and a pinch of cardamom powder for flavor. Mix well.
  • Continue to cook until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency. Remove from heat and let it cool.

2. Shape the Paan Modaks:

  • Mix sweet-coated fennel seeds, Red Mukhwas, green fennel seeds, and Gulkand in a bowl.
  • Grease your hands with a little ghee and take a small portion of the paan mixture.
  • Flatten it in your palm and then place a small amount of the mixture of sweet-coated fennel seeds, Red Mukhwas, green fennel seeds, and Gulkand in the center.
  • Carefully shape it into a modak, ensuring the filling is sealed inside. Create the traditional modak shape or any other decorative shape you prefer.

3. Offer to Lord Ganesha:

  • Place the Paan Modaks on a decorative plate or tray and offer them to Lord Ganesha during your puja.
