Why you will love this orange marmalade pie recipe

This recipe is quick and beginner-friendly. The ingredients are simple and easy to find in most kitchens. Orange marmalade adds a sweet and slightly tangy flavor that makes the pie unique. In addition, the crust becomes crispy and golden when baked. Most importantly, the pie tastes great whether you serve it warm or cold.

Ingredients

For the pie crust

3 cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons salt
½ tablespoon sugar
1½ cups cold butter (cut into small cubes)
½ cup or 7–8 tablespoons ice-cold water

For the filling

1½ cups homemade orange marmalade (store-bought works well too)

For the top wash

1 egg
2–3 teaspoons colored sugar balls for sprinkles

Step-by-step orange marmalade pie recipe

Step 1: Prepare the dough

First, place the flour, salt, and sugar in a food processor or mixing bowl. Next, add the cold butter cubes. Pulse or mix until the mixture looks like fine crumbs.

Step 2: Add cold water

Slowly add ice-cold water while mixing the dough. Continue mixing until the dough begins to come together. If the dough feels dry, add a little more cold water.

Step 3: Chill the dough

Now gather the dough into a ball and divide it into two parts. Wrap each part in plastic wrap and chill them in the fridge for about 2 hours.

Step 4: Roll the dough

Once the dough is chilled, roll one portion on a flat surface with a light dusting of flour. Roll it to about 1 cm thickness. Then place the rolled dough on a baking tray and chill it again for 10–15 minutes.

Step 5: Add the marmalade filling

Spread the orange marmalade evenly over the rolled dough. After that, roll the second dough portion. You can cover the pie completely or cut the dough into simple decorative shapes.

Step 6: Seal the pie

Place the second dough layer over the marmalade. Press the edges gently to seal the pie. However, avoid pressing too hard so the filling stays inside.

Step 7: Apply egg wash

Brush the top of the pie with egg wash. Then place the pie in the fridge for another 6–7 minutes.

Step 8: Bake the pie

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the pie from the fridge and brush the top again with egg wash. Sprinkle colored sugar balls on top. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the crust becomes golden brown and crispy.

Step 9: Serve

Finally, cut the pie into slices and serve it warm or cold. Both ways taste delicious.
