πŸ₯ What is Aam Panna?

Aam Panna is a traditional Indian drink made using raw green mangoes, mint, and spices. Typically, the mangoes are either roasted or boiled and then blended into a tangy beverage.

Moreover, raw mangoes are known for their cooling properties. Therefore, this drink is especially popular during hot summer months.

🍹 Servings:

4–6 glasses

πŸ›’ Ingredients:

  • 5–6 small raw mangoes
  • ΒΎ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Β½ cup fresh mint leaves
  • 3–4 tsp roasted cumin (jeera) powder
  • 3 tsp black salt
  • 8–10 black peppercorns
  • Β½ inch ginger
  • 2 tsp soaked fennel seeds
  • A pinch of cardamom powder
  • 4–5 cups water

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mangoes
First, wash the mangoes thoroughly. Then, roast them on an open flame until soft. Alternatively, you can peel them, remove the seed, and cut the pulp.
  2. Cook the Pulp
Next, boil 3 cups of water and add the mango pulp. At this stage, add black salt, peppercorns, and ginger. After that, cover and cook for 5–7 minutes until the pulp becomes tender.
  3. Cool & Blend
Once done, turn off the flame and let the mixture cool. Then, transfer it to a blender, add sugar and soaked fennel seeds, and blend until smooth.
  4. Strain the Mixture
After blending, strain the mixture using a sieve to remove any fibers.
  5. Add Mint Flavor
Meanwhile, blend mint leaves with 1 cup of water into a paste. Then, mix this into the mango mixture.
  6. Final Touch
Finally, add roasted cumin powder and cardamom powder. Mix well, and your Aam Panna is ready to serve.

❄️ Serving Suggestion:

Pour the Aam Panna into glasses and add ice cubes. For extra freshness, garnish with mint leaves. Serve chilled and enjoy!

πŸ’‘ Tips:

  • Firstly, adjust sugar based on the sourness of the mangoes
  • Additionally, you can store the concentrate in the fridge for 2–3 days
  • For extra hydration, add a pinch of salt for an electrolyte boost
