Ingredients

For the dough:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the garlic spread:
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 6-8 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes adjust to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped fresh cilantro for garnishing

Method

Prepare the Dough:
  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a larger mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until the dough comes together. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Garlic Spread:
  1. In a bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili flakes, and salt. Combine well to create a flavorful spread.
Assemble and Bake:
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Spread the prepared garlic mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  4. Roll the dough tightly from one end to form a log and seal the edges.
  5. Place the rolled garlic bread log on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
Serve:
  1. Once baked, remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  2. Slice the bread into pieces and arrange them on a serving plate.
  3. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro for an extra burst of flavor.
