How My Creative Sabudana Waffle Recipe Delighted My Children This Chaitra Navratri!

Picture this: it’s Chaitra Navratri, and the aroma of incense fills the air as we gather for our evening prayers. My children, eager for something special to break their fast, looked up at me with hopeful eyes. They wanted a treat that would make this festive season even more interesting That’s when inspiration struck, and I decided to create a dish that would satisfy their cravings and celebrate our traditions – my very own Sabudana Waffle recipe!

As my children eagerly watched, I gathered the ingredients for our culinary adventure:

  • 1 cup Sabudana (tapioca pearls)
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/4 cup peanuts, roasted and crushed
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped (adjust according to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Rock salt (sendha namak) to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • Ghee or oil for greasing the waffle maker

Bringing the Recipe to Life:

With my children by my side, we embarked on our culinary journey:

  1. We rinsed the sabudana under cold water and soaked them for 4-5 hours until they were soft and plump.
  2. We combined the soaked sabudana with mashed potatoes, crushed peanuts, green chilies, ginger, lemon juice, coriander leaves, rock salt, and black pepper powder in a mixing bowl. The kitchen filled with the fragrant aroma of our creation.
  3. Preheating the waffle maker, we greased it lightly with ghee, ready to transform our batter into golden-brown waffles.
  4. Spooning the batter onto the hot waffle maker, we eagerly awaited the moment of truth. With each flip, our waffles crisped up beautifully, promising a delicious treat ahead.

Sharing the Joy:

As we gathered around the table, my children’s eyes sparkled with anticipation. Plates piled high with sabudana waffles awaited them, accompanied by bowls of tangy chutney. With each bite, their smiles grew wider, and I knew that our new tradition was a resounding success. These sabudana waffles had brought us closer together, celebrating our love for food and family during this special time of year.
