Falafel

Falafel is a deep-fried ball, pakora or patty that is made from chickpeas or garbanzos and green leaves, garlic, and spices. Falafel is very popular in the middle east as fast food, it is a vegetarian food and is one of the most widely consumed and recognized food of the middle east.It is served as sandwiches in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, and tahini, it can serve with salads, or hummus, garlic sauce, and tahini.

Ingredients:

  • 2cups garbanzos or chickpeas(soaked)
  • 8-10 garlic cloves
  • 1red onion (medium size)
  • 1 hand full of parsley(chopped)
  • 1 hand full of fresh coriander(chopped)
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 3-4 green  chile
  • 1-2 inch ginger
  • 2-3 tsp lemon juice
  • 1-2tsp sesame seed
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • oil for frying

Method:

Take the big bowl of food processor add chickpeas, garlic cloves, parsley, fresh coriander, onion, ginger, chili, cumin seeds sesame seeds make it a coarse mixture if you need use little water.

Transfer the mixture to a big bowl put it aside for half an hour after that add salt and baking soda, mix the mixture properly.

Heat oil on a medium flame and shape the mixture into small patties or any shape, and fried it both side.

Serve Hot with pita bread, salad and. make the sandwich with hummus and tahini.
